*The representative tree species in the region are "hinoki" or a cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) in coniferous forests and "keyaki" or a zelkova (Zelkova serrata) in broad-leaved forests.
**It was supposed in Chapter 7 that all of the cut material at thinnings could be used as an energy source, taking actual Japanese market value into consideration.
